Application Process under Express Entry

  • Indian nationals desirous of applying for permanent residency create their online profile on the Express Entry immigration pool
  • Express Entry has a points-based system which assigns points to different applicant profiles as per diverse criteria such as age, work experience, education and more
  • A minimum-criteria is laid down as per Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada’s (IRCC) to be selected for the next step
  • IRCC invites the shortlisted applicants to apply for Canadian permanent residency who successfully clear the minimum points cut-off and be highly ranked as well
  • Average processing time for a permanent residency application is six months

Points System in Express Entry

Awarding points to different applicants depend upon a diverse set of selection parameters including:

  • Level of education completed in any country
  • Level of education completed in a learning institution in Canada is eligible for higher points
  • Language proficiency in English or French, (official languages of Canada)
  • Work experience (more years of experience attracts more points)
  • Relevant job and other associated skills
  • Age of applicant (younger applicant is eligible for more points)
  • Job offer from a Canadian employer
  • Education, work experience and language proficiency of Spouse qualify for more points
  • An applicant with a Provincial nomination
