The year 2015 is coming to an end and it is time to evaluate what we have done during the past year and make plans for the New Year. We have seen so many new regulations and changes for Canadian immigration during the year and expecting new changes in the coming year. The people of Canada particularly immigrant community has hopes with newly elected government leads by the Prime Minister Mr. Justin Trudeau. Particularly changes in the system to bring close family members and to be processed faster without any caps. Although it is too early to judge as to what is coming, but so far steps taken by the newly elected government, it shows their intention to work in favour of immigrant community. Bringing 25,000 refugees from Syria is a start to show the fulfillment of promises made by the Liberal government in their election manifesto.
What should we expect?
As per the promises made by Liberal Government in their manifesto their priority at this moment is to bring refugees from Syria. Government machinery is currently focused towards successful settlement of refugees and has so far received overwhelming response even from private sponsors of refugees. This is a huge humanitarian work carried out by the Canadian community at large.
One of the promises made, we should expect of increase in the cap of parent sponsorship from 5,000 to 10,000. The Parent and Grandparent sponsorship applications will re-open on January 4, 2015. Final announcement regarding number of application is yet to publish but we should expect the increase in intake of applications. Temporary Foreign Workers including International students working in Canada on Post Graduate work permit can only apply for their Permanent residence through Express Entry. In most cases International students do not have an approved job offer from Canadian employers. Accordingly, even though they studied in Canada and worked here their chances for selection under Express Entry are very less. The new government promised for waiver to apply for Permanent residence through Express Entry for International students which will be easier for them to obtain one. We hope the changes will come soon.
As the time passes by and the new government takes full command, we should expect more changes to come. The Canadian immigration is now adopting an approach to accept all applications through electronic means. These initiatives are welcomed by applicants as they can apply from their home at just one click.
